THE JAPANESE EXPERIENCE
FROM TUESDAY 24th TO SATURDAY 28th APRIL 2007, THEATRE DE NIMES (FRANCE)
For a week, let’s explore the wonderful creativity of the contemporary Japanese art scene. An interactive Photomaton in the four corners of the city, electro-flow, neo-dada performances, offbeat songs and phantasmagorical dances… 5 days, 8 evenings, 15 projects, 40 artists : a schedule to detonate a unique experience in the heart of Nîmes (France), getting to grips with an explosive artistic scene, where high technology is happy to flirt with the limits of the absurd. Are you ready to be immersed in the midst of off-the-wall Japanese creativity?

Music

With KEIZOmachine! And Juicy

Visual accompaniment VJ GEC & Go Matsumoto

Without ever using pre-recorded sequences, KEIZOmachine! and Juicy recreate their rhythms in real time, by hitting the buttons on their samples and never losing sight of the groove. Also experts in real percussion and vinyl, they sprinkle their hip hop with incongruous scratches and copies, perfectly synchronized with the carton films projected during their sets. Hifana: hip beats and break beat sections combine to form a flamboyant paroxysm.

KEIZOmachine! first caressed discs before deciding to study percussion. Juicy came late to hip hop culture, having made the journey in reverse. Together they formed Tribal Circus, a group of percussionists that accompany belly dancing and skating demonstrations, followed by Hifana, where they are only bounded by their own imagination. Their latest CD/DVD Channel H was conceived as an imaginary television program: from it, the Wamono clip was awarded a prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival in 2005.
